Routine Eye Exams in
Here at East Texas Eye Associates, we truly believe in routine eye examinations.
Routine eye examinations are extremely important for several reasons. First of all, we want to do a thorough examination to ensure your eyes are healthy. We also want to look for any problems to catch them before you even have any symptoms.
Some conditions we often detect are glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy. The sooner we uncover these problems, the easier treating them will be. Early detection will also give us the best chance of slowing or reversing any symptoms, including vision loss in some patients.
During an examination we go over your history. We also discuss the ins and outs of your daily life and any problems you may be having. It is important to let us know all of the medications you are on before we start the examination.
Dr. Duncan will perform a thorough examination of your eyes, eyelids, and inner eyes, using magnification and light. We may also test your eye pressure to help identify glaucoma.
As adults, we have to make time and remember to get our eyes checked regularly. It is extremely important to schedule routine examinations if you have a family history of eye problems or have higher risk factors such as diabetes, high blood pressure, certain work conditions or medications as these might impact your vision.
We recommend checking your eyes every two years, although if you have any eye or vision issues, you should be seen yearly or even bi-yearly.
